Where to begin? I am Disney nut with a fanaticism that was fostered by my parents. My mom loves to collect Disney memorabilia (she's mostly a fan of Donald Duck), and my dad finds it particularly soothing to visit a Disney park and enjoy a few hours there. Ever since I was in elementary school, I've been dubbed the "Disney Girl" due to the annual trips my family made to Disney World starting in 1985. After I started college in 2000, we still made trips out to Florida, but they were not nearly as frequent as before.
I always enjoy spending time at the parks (when they are not ridiculously crowded), and nowadays, the nostalgia factor is what draws me in the most. I spent a year in Japan working and bought an annual pass to the Tokyo Disney Resort. Visits there comforted me when I dealt with homesickness. There has always been something familiar and comforting about going to a Disney park. Whenever I return to Disney World or Tokyo Disney, I feel like I'm saying hello to an old friend.
I decided to write this blog to share my love for Disney and how my life has been interwoven with these amusement parks. I will mostly be talking about my experiences at Walt Disney World, but there will be a few stories that will sneak in from Tokyo. Also, the entry following this one will cheat a little and focus on Captain EO, which I remember mostly from my time at Disneyland. The attraction did open in Florida, but I associate it more with the Disneyland here in California.
There are a lot of stories of my life associated with these different parks. Even if you're not a Disney fan, you might be interested in seeing a few glimpses of my childhood. So, please enjoy this blog for what it's worth, and thanks for reading! :)
